Valē Rebecca Wyatt

It is with profound sadness that Launceston Kart Club and the broader karting family announce the sudden passing of Rebecca Wyatt.

Whilst never competing in the sport she was born into the world of karting through the involvement of both parents Chris and Christine and then through her younger brother Zane. Never one to stand idly by one of her first roles was to be Zane's "Team Manager". This role entailed handling all his race entries and any PR that was required.

All this was achieved whilst becoming a very accomplished musician and acquiring the academic qualifications required to further her education at university. This passion saw her head to Hobart in the ubiquitous Wyatt family, white Ford Laser to study pharmacy. Upon graduation she returned to Launceston and then a few years later headed off for a brief dalliance in the Queensland heat before she once again returned to Launceston in recent years. Her free time was quite often taken up with journalistic endeavours and writing Motorsport Articles and also performing PR work.

Not one to just sit behind a keyboard Rebecca also provided commentary for the Launceston Kart Club race meetings for many years and had the rare skill of being able to inform the audience of the on track action. She was also the Launceston Kart Club Secretary until recently.

Those that knew and loved Rebecca, or Becca as she was known always knew where they stood, she was one of the strongest and most vibrant people I have ever met. I also know she would've been far more comfortable and competent to write this piece than I. Somewhere up there she's sitting behind a keyboard rewriting this as we speak. RIP Rebecca Wyatt
