Launceston Kart Club

The 2012 running of The Launceston Kart Club’s annual Senior National Feature race meeting had the majority of the state’s best drivers suiting up and enjoying the close racing that “J” racing provides. Some big names including a former World Karting champion adorn the perpetual shield and all the drivers were keen to add their name to this very select list. One hundred and seven entries across eleven classes made for an action packed program. Throw in the Phil Goss Memorial for Over 40’s Pro and the stage was set for a great weekend’s racing.

The Club meeting on Wednesday night will be held at 28 Janet Street Kings Meadows.

The Launceston Kart Club Senior National Feature including the Phillip Goss Memorial for Over 40’s Pro is being held at the Archerville Raceway, Pipers River Road, Turners Marshon 6 May 2012.

The entry fee is $45 per class plus $25 per additional class entered per individual.

Feature classes are Senior National Light, Senior National Heavy, Over 40’s Pro and Over 40’s Super Heavy.

 2012 Champions Crowned At The Fourth Round Of The Tasmanian Statewide Series

Tasmania’s number one karting venue Archerville Kartway saw in excess of 130 competitors all vying for a good result and a strong finish at the fourth and final round of the 2012 Tasmanian Statewide Series held on March 24th and 25th. Sunny skies, action packed racing and the excellent facilities on and off the track resulted in a race meeting to remember. Karting Tasmania went all out with the trophies this year and twelve lucky winners took home some very impressive mementos for a job well done and of course the highly prized red plate.

Wild Weather Strikes At The Third Round Of The 2012 Tasmanian Statewide Series

On March 3rd and 4th the North Western Kart Club held the third round of the 2012 Tasmanian Statewide Series. Unfortunately, the weather forecasters got it right for once and heavy rain and wind lashed the Highclere circuit for the majority of the weekend. Some competitors even chose not to compete on the Sunday after enduring the conditions on Saturday. Some of the finals however were held on a dry or drying track which really threw the form guide out the window. It was also very much a case of green girl power as three (nearly four) lady Tony Kart pilots took wins in their respective classes.

The McDonalds Young Guns Meeting for 2012 , incorporating Round 4 of the Statewide Series is being held at the Launceston Kart Club track on 24 and 25 March 2012.

Feature race is the McDonald's Junior Young Guns.

There will be a working bee on Saturday 17 March starting at 10:00am.

All members are asked to volunteer some time to make this a successful day.

The goal is to do some essential maintenance around the track in preparation for round four of the Statewide series.

If it is wet on 17 March the working bee will be held on Sunday 18 of March starting at 10:00am.

New Competitors Spice Things Up At The Second Round Of The 2012 Tasmanian Statewide Series

On February 11th and 12th the Southern Tasmanian Kart Club held the second round of the 2012 Tasmanian Statewide Series. 117 competitors flocked to the Orielton circuit with many turning up on the Friday to get in some extra testing. The weather forecast predicted rain throughout the weekend and competitors were prepared for a drenching. Fortunately it failed to eventuate allowing for some of the best racing of the series so far. Come finals, the track had substantially improved and competitors smashed their qualifying times. Steve Crocker even managed to set the lap record in his class. This round also saw several new competitors joining the series to throw a cat amongst the pigeons.
